The Founder’s Story

Paula Mercy Children’s Rescue Center was established in 2015 as a project under the Upendo Vision Group. What began as a simple initiative has since grown into a life-changing mission serving vulnerable children and the wider community.

In 2019, Paula Mercy Foundation was officially formed and took over the management of the Rescue Center, providing a more structured and sustainable framework for its operations.

The journey of the founder, Paula Mbeth Mwangi, is both inspiring and unexpected.

“I did not plan to start a children’s home. What I had in mind was a school, so I started a school. While running it, I partnered with a children’s home in the neighborhood. The partnership was born out of necessity—the children’s home lacked funds and needed support for their children’s education. On my part, my school was still new and had few learners, so I saw an opportunity to sponsor the children as a way of growing the school. I welcomed them, and the rest is history.”

What began as a practical partnership soon evolved into a deep calling. Through her compassion and commitment, Madam Paula found herself fully dedicated to caring for vulnerable children—transforming a simple idea into a mission-driven children’s home.

Her journey reflects:

Compassion turned into purpose
Opportunity transformed into impact
Faith guiding service to humanity

Today, her legacy continues through the work of Paula Mercy Children’s Home, touching lives and giving hope to children who need it most.
